How we stay connected as a remote team

At Treehouse, as a remote team, we need creative ways to stay connected. With colleagues in the UK, Canada, South Africa, Germany, India and more, most of our time together happens online, so we were looking for a new, fun way to build team spirit across time zones.

So, back in 2020, we started a weekly tradition. Every Friday, we hop on a quick, 15-minute call to each share our ‘Best Two Minutes of the Week.’ It’s a chance for everyone to highlight a moment from the week that stood out – whether it’s a personal win, a work achievement, or a small moment that made a difference.

What started as an experiment has now become a weekly ritual that’s been going strong for over 200 weeks! This simple yet meaningful practice has allowed us to strengthen our bonds and celebrate our successes, big and small.

Building connections through sharing

The beauty of the ‘Best Two Minutes of the Week’ tradition lies in its simplicity. In just a few minutes, we create a space for everyone to share something positive. Whether it’s recognising a team member for a job well done or sharing a personal milestone, it’s a great way to deepen our connection, no matter where we are in the world.

At the end of each call, we capture a group shot to mark the moment. Over the weeks, we’ve built a collection of photos – take a look!

Here’s to the next 200 weeks – and beyond!

As we continue this tradition, we look forward to many more opportunities to share our ‘Best Two Minutes of the Week’ together. This simple call has become an integral part of our team culture, and a great way to stay engaged and connected in a remote world.
